New Delhi, 20 February 2020 – Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has revealed its plans to launch a special train to run on the Ramayana Circuit in March. Named Shri Ramayana Express, the train will cover major destinations mentioned in Ramayana. The unique pilgrim train is touted to start its first journey from Delhi and cover important sites such as Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Hampi, Janakpur, Nandigram, Prayag, Rameshwaram, Sitamarhi, Shringverpur and Varanasi.
This special train is expected to have 10 coaches and provide 16 nights -17 days tour. According to IRCTC website, “The all inclusive tour package will cover all meals, accommodation and wash and change facilities in dharmashalas, all transfers, sight-seeing arrangements and dedicated tour manager of IRCTC who will be travelling with the tourists during the entire tour.” It is said that the train will provide food cooked without onion and garlic to passengers during Navratri. The pantry car will have Fruits, Sabudana Khichdi, Curd and Potato.
Pilgrims can get sleeper Class package for as low as Rs 16,065 per person. The AC Class package will cost Rs 26,775 per person with extra charges for Sri Lanka. A flight from Chennai to Colombo for 5 nights and 6 days package is expected to cost Rs 36,970.
