Pioneering short video platform Likee continued its winning streak in January 2020 as it yet again featured among the 10 most downloaded apps globally. According to data released by Sensor Tower, Likee stood firm at the sixth spot among non-gaming apps downloaded globally.
As per the latest ranking, Likee is currently among the second most downloaded short video app. In December 2019 as well, Likee was adjudged the sixth most downloaded apps globally by Sensor Tower.
Launched in 2017 by Singapore-based Bigo Technology PTE Ltd, Likee has climbed up the ladder gradually. Thanks to its unique features, Likee has made a mark for itself across the world within a short span of time.
The short video platform is particularly popular in India. The prime factor behind its success in the country is its availability in more than 15 regional languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, etc.
The Indian film industry, popular known as Bollywood, has also realized the solidifying position of the platform in the country. Collaborations of big motion picture brands such as Salman Khan Films, Fox Star Studios and T-Series with Likee in 2019 makes the popularity of the platform evident.
The platform’s increasing popularity can also be attributed to the various social causes it associated with under its flagship initiative #LikeeDreams. As part of the drive, several campaigns such as welfare of underprivileged and animals were carried out.
